Welcome to the corridors of Sambhu Nath College, Labpur, an educational institution named after Dr. Sambhu Nath Banerjee, Hon’ble Justice of Calcutta High Court and former Vice- Chancellor of The University of Calcutta. The College firmly believes that excellence of institutions of higher education depends on many aspects of which self-evaluation and self-improvement are important. Sambhu Nath College was established in 1963 with an aim to spread higher education in the rural backward area of Labpur.
The mission of our institution is to spread quality education in maintaining a healthy and disciplined academic atmosphere. The College has a dedicated and sincere faculty for whom the academic interests of the students are of foremost importance. As a result, it can boast of consistently excellent results in the University examinations year after year. By the end of their college life students are well equipped with inner strength and confidence to face society in general and the world of higher learning in particular, to become a complete man or woman. This college at present imparts higher education in undergraduate level in eleven honours subjects (viz, Bengali, English, History, Pol. Science, Sanskrit, Geography, Philosophy, Accountancy, Mathematics, Physics, Environmental Science, Chemistry) and fifteen general course subjects covering three streams – Arts, Science and Commerce. About 3500 students are associated with this college for their college level education at present. Seminars, workshops, memorial lectures, N.S.S and N.C.C activities are regularly held for updating the knowledge of both students and teachers. Infrastructural facilities including separate buildings for Acedemic, administrative, Library and Science Deptts. Boys’ Hostel, Canteen, separate common room for Boys and Girls, Indoor and Outdoor games and sports facilities, Medicinal plant garden, Medical unit, NSS Units, Carrier counseling, Students’ Union office, Guest Room, Play Ground are adequately provided by the college.
