The College has started with General course in Economics in the year 1963 and honours course was introduced in the year 1966. There are two permanent faculty members in the department. In the past several years the number of students was very large. But in course of time the number of students rapidly decline because the subject is not taught in the Madhyamik level or HS level. At present only 67 students (both in Honours and General) are enrolled in the last year.
During the past two years the rate of success of students is significantly high (88%) and the rate of dropout is negligible. There is sufficient number of books in the Library. Since the number of students is low, the student can issue a large number of books from the Library.
Plan of action of the department for the coming years –
1.To introduce statistics as general course with Economics Honours
2.To conduct national seminar entitled …”Issues and Challenges of Poverty, Development and Rural Livelihoods in India”
